The problem with manual RTW tracking
Spreadsheets record what happened. They cannot tell you whether it was good or bad — or why.
No benchmark
You don't know if 30 days is good or bad for a lumbar strain. Without an external benchmark, every RTW outcome exists in a vacuum. You can't tell if your programme is performing or failing.
No stratification
All injuries are treated the same in the spreadsheet. A shoulder impingement and a lumbar disc injury have fundamentally different RTW trajectories — treating them as one number makes the data useless.
No closed loop
Treatment outcomes don't feed back into risk prediction. A worker with a slow RTW history is the same risk profile as a first-time claimant in most systems. That's a significant blind spot.
